It's A New Dimension - Touring Chronicles Post #1

29/02/2024

Hey fabulous peeps!

I've got some big news for you!

Since December 2023, I've been gearing up for a massive adventure, and I can't wait to spill the beans.

But first, let me ask you... Do you know who Hans Zimmer is?

In case you don't, he's the wizard behind the enchanting melodies of The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, and a plethora of other blockbuster films.

Basically, if you've ever found yourself humming along to the epic tunes of your favorite movies, chances are, you've been under the musical spell of Hans Zimmer.

Okay, let's put that aside for a moment and let me give you some context for the amazing news I am about to share.

I sing with the Nairobi Chamber Chorus, an amazing choir of currently 27 members (Though about 100 young people have gone through its doors since it was founded by Ken Wakia back in 2005.)

This is the same choir that was, back in 2012, engaged to be the Pageant Choir and performed with the Royal Marine Band at the late Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant.

Anyway, in Oct/Nov 2023, or thereabout, this amazing choir (that I'm very lucky to be a part of), took a leap and auditioned for a gig that's nothing short of spectacular.

And guess what? We got it!

Which brings me to my big news...

We will be performing in the World of Hans Zimmer - A New Dimension Tour!!!

This ain't your average gig, folks.

It's a three-month musical rollercoaster from March to May, with a second round coming in October to November!

I'll be joining forces with 11 of my incredibly talented choir mates and embark on a journey of a lifetime.

And there's more!

In the middle of all this, the rest of our fantastic choir will be joining us in Germany and representing Africa in the Musica Sacra International festival from mid-May.

And get this – we're the only African choir in the lineup.

How cool is that?

Now, a massive shout-out to my incredible family – James Laight, my main squeeze, and my two kiddos, JJ and Ruth.

You guys are the real MVPs for letting me dive headfirst into this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Big love to my rockstar sisters Rina, Frida, and Rowena for being there every step of the way.

Huge kudos to Ronald Waudo and Joseph Njoroge, holding down the fort and teaching my students while I'm off on this wild adventure.

And to my students who've gracefully embraced my substitute teachers – you're absolute champs.

To my clients – you guys are the wind beneath my wings. Hope to spot some familiar faces in the crowd at our concerts!

I thought about doing a video, but let's be real, I'd probably end up a blubbering mess.

So here I am, pounding away at the keyboard, sharing this epic news with all of you.

I'm sad that I'll be missing out on some of my students' incredible moments back home, like Jaehee Lee's performance at the Young Musicians Competition Finals.

Jaehee, you're a rockstar, and I'll be cheering you on from afar.

I've decided to chronicle my tour tales right here on this blog.

I will try my best to let you in on the juicy details of my adventure as we go along.

Join me as I share the behind-the-scenes of this incredible journey.

From rehearsals to the thrill of performing on a global stage, you'll get an insider's look at the World of Hans Zimmer Tour!

Anyway, as I dive into this crazy amazing adventure, know that each one of you is in my thoughts.

Thanks for being a part of my journey.

Stay awesome! 😎
